Scoil Bhríde is a Roman Cathoilc Primary School in the parish of Lackagh. The school is under the Patronage of the Archbishop of Tuam, the most Reverend Michael Neary and operates under the guidelines of the Department of Education and Skills the (D.E.S).

We are a co-educational primary school of circa 250 pupils with 9 mainstream classes. 14 teachers an administrative principal, 5 Special Needs Assistant and a full time secretary make up the staff team at Scoil Bhríde. We moved into a new our new school building in February of 2018 and at Scoil Bhríde we are committed to the further development of our school to make it a welcoming, supportive school that fosters the holistic development of all our pupils enabling them to reach their true potential.

The school consistently performs above the national average in the annual standardised assessments for English reading, Maths and Gaeilge.

The school has well developed early intervention strategies that provide pupils in the infant classes with a strong foundation for future success in literacy and numeracy. These strategies include Reading Recovery, Maths Recovery and year round literacy and numeracy station teaching.

Scoil Bhríde has very strong parochial links to both Turloughmore GAA and Claregalway GAA but we also welcome other sporting initiatives and activities for the pupils of our school including athletics, rugby, basketball and soccer to name some

The school promotes the use of digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning. A Digital Learning Plan guides this work. We have invested significantly in digital technologies and pupils and staff use the latest resources available in the classroom to enhance the learning experience of our pupils.

Pupil learning in the performing arts benefits from a rich tradition of music, song and drama in the school. This is particularly true when it comes to music where the school is steeped in a tradition of traditional Irish music. Class dramas, musical performances and choir singing for the enjoyment of internal and external audiences are a common feature of school life.

Health and well-being is promoted through the provision of a wide range of sports and physical activities. All pupils are encouraged to experience and participate in a variety of curriculum based activities throughout the year. Coaching is provided in swimming, gymnastics, tennis, basketball, spike ball, soccer and Gaelic football. Lunch break games including basketball leagues are also provided. From time to time external coaches are also employed and work alongside the class teacher. Inter-school tournaments and friendly games are arranged throughout the year in a variety of sports. Class fun runs to encourage daily activity bursts for all pupils prove very popular with all classes.

School Tuition starts at 08:50am . Infants finish at 1:30 pm and 1st to 6th Class at 2:30pm.
