The Joy of Traditional Irish Music at Scoil Bhríde

Scoil Bhríde has a rich history of celebrating and preserving our Traditional Irish Music. 

For many years, pupils have been learning, playing and performing tunes that have been passed down through generations – ó ghlúin go glúin. 

To help all our pupils explore their musical talents, our school offers a variety of traditional Irish instruments to rent. Whether you're interested in playing the concertina, the fiddle, the banjo, or even the accordion, we have some instruments available for our pupils to borrow. This makes it easier for everyone to get involved in learning Irish music. 

Our school is proud of the many students who have occasionally participated in Scór and Fleadhanna Cheoil over the years. These events celebrate the very best of Irish traditional music, and some of our students have achieved great success down through the years! 

Traditional Irish music is an important part of our school celebrations. Students have the opportunity to perform at school masses and at our annual school concert. These performances bring the whole school together and allow our musicians to showcase their hard work and talent. Whether it's providing the music for a special event or creating a lively atmosphere for a concert, our young musicians are always ready to shine! 

Pupils from 3rd – 6th classes looking for a little extra musical fun and practice are always welcome to join our After-School Music Club on Thursdays. This is the perfect place for students to come together, play music, learn new tunes, and share their love for Irish music with friends. It’s a friendly and supportive environment where everyone, no matter their experience can participate and enjoy being immersed in a séisiún cheoil. 

Above all, learning and playing Irish music at our school is all about having fun! From performing on stage to practicing with friends, there are plenty of opportunities to make new memories, learn new skills, and enjoy the magic of music. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, there's always a place for you in our musical community.
