Lego League 2026
Over the past few months, the children in 4th Class have been busy exploring the world of Lego Robotics. The whole class took part in a variety of projects, learning how to build and programme Lego models using motors, colour sensors and light sensors. They created projects that could move, react to colours, sense objects and change direction. Some of our favourite topics included Happy Traveller, where we designed different modes of transport, and Crazy Carnival, where we built funfair rides and games such as mini golf and bowling.
After weeks of hard work and creativity, six pupils were selected to represent the class at the Lego League in ATU Galway on 11th May. This year's theme was Unearthed, which focused on archaeology, historical sites and careers connected to this area. The children linked their project to what they had learned during our Claregalway walking tour. Their project included a fantastic replica of Claregalway Castle as well as elements inspired by the Franciscan Friary. This led to the group choosing the name “Claregalway Treasure Seekers” as their project name.
We had a fantastic day at ATU, where the children proudly presented their project, viewed the amazing work of other schools and enjoyed a tour of the robotics labs led by college students. The group represented our school brilliantly and should be very proud of all their hard work. It was a great day out and a wonderful learning experience for everyone involved.
